ECUADOR!!!! An enchanted country full of contrast, is the smallest of the Andean countries in South America, and the easiest and most pleasant to travel in.

Geographically divided into four regions: The Coast, The Highlands, The Amazon and the Galapagos Islands, Ecuador is a complete destination: From the beautifully preserved colonial capital of Quito, located in the highlands at 2850 m above sea level, one can travel from the Andean Indian markets through remote jungle towns to the warm Pacific beaches or fly over to the Galapagos Island.

The highlands have many colorful Indian markets, some of which are world famous and deservedly so. Others are rarely visited by foreigners but are no less interesting. Any journey into the highlands is dominated by magnificent volcanoes, such as Cotopaxi. Cotopaxi is one of the worlds highest active Volcanoes and reaches 5897m into the sky. The Cayambe, Illinizas, Antizana, and Chimborazo are among other magnificent Volcanoes and are part of “The Avenue of the Volcanoes” which surrounds fertile valleys and is a spectacular location for flora and fauna.

The Coast with wide and magnificent beaches has much to offer. One can go to a picturesque fishing village and watch the fisherman expertly navigate their traditional balsa-wood rafts through the ocean breakers to the sandy shore, or just enjoy the sun and the beauty of nature, and partake in the local water sports.

The enigmatic Amazon Rainforest is home to many invaluable species. Ecuador’s jungle has a very large variety of reptiles, birds and butterflies, some being only endemic to this region. Jungle travel in Ecuador is much simpler than in most countries because of the distance between the jungle sites and the cities. One can be in the jungle after only a day’s bus travel from Quito.

The unique and enchanted Galapagos islands, located 1000km off the coast of Ecuador on the Pacific Ocean, is a paradise inhabited by endemic species found nowhere else on earth. The animals of the Galapagos Islands are undaunted by humans. At times it is difficult to avoid close interaction with them. Combine leisure with nature and add all this beauty condensed in such a small place makes for an unforgettable trip of a lifetime.
